The construction works will start at the beginning of March and La Ciotat Shipyards asked Mr. Kerouanton, Teacher-Researcher at the University of Nantes to make a historical and heritage study. Interview :<\/p>\n

Mr. Kerouanton, what do you do in La Ciotat ?<\/h5>\n

” I come back to work with La Ciotat Shipyards within their project of megayacht platform and the demolition of the old slipway to carry out this rendering of historical and heritage study of the slipway. This mission will last 6 months and requires both the story told by the historian and the interpretation of a 3D representation.”<\/p>\n

How are you going to do your study?<\/h5>\n

“To do this study, there is always this question of upstream documentation, archives, works that already exist. I am thinking in particular of the work that the naval elders do here with the association of Vence, the House of shipbuilding.\u00a0 So the first step we do today is to do a digital survey to make a 3D digital model using contemporary technologies of course which are photogrammetry and lasergrametry.”<\/p>\n

Can you tell us more about the outcome of your study<\/h5>\n

“We are working on a 3D modeling through photographs taken by drone that are assembled by computer to be able to have a 3D model. Then we complete this with a laser scan that does not take photographies directly but captures in 3 dimensions by what are called point clouds meaning the laser calculates distances and establishes a set of points which makes a cloud of points.”<\/p>\n
